Merilynne Rush, RN is a retired nurse and home birth midwife. She received her nursing degree at the University of Michigan and during her 25 years of professional life has been helping people make empowering choices concerning their health care. She has also worked as a hospice nurse, caring for the dying person and the family, and she has witnessed the benefit of walking through rather than around profound emotion.
Currently Merilynne works as a consultant for families seeking alternative ways to say goodbye to a loved one, specifically home funerals and green burials. She is on the Board of Directors of the National Home Funeral Alliance, a non-profit organization dedicated to educating and empowering families to care for their own dead. In addition, Merilynne has hosted several Death Cafes in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
